Life at St George's
At St George’s we have a 24 hour staff, here to look after you and help you develop an adult attitude towards a healthy, balanced life. Male and female staff are on-hand to offer help and assistance and look after both your pastoral and academic wellbeing, because there is more to life than study!
The accomodation is comprised of double and single rooms and students are encouraged to make their rooms comfortable spaces to relax and study. The bathroom facilities have been newly renovated and there are laundry facilities, kitchens and common rooms with games consoles and music tv just like a university halls of residence.
St George’s is the bridge between school and university, where young adults appreciate wider freedoms than traditional boarding schools. Our staff are here to mentor you and help prepare you for an independent life at university. There are house rules to abide by and town is only a five minute walk from the campus, and it is our aim that students learn to apply a healthy balance between study, leisure and keeping fit, because a healthy mind needs a healthy body.
Students enjoy easy access to shops, cinema, health care and public transport. The local sports centre is a short walk away, and students are encouraged to keep fit with swimming, racket sports and gym all available at the sports centre and running along the seafront is a popular way for students to keep fit!
A student focused activity programme runs organised trips, excursions and activities to help students make friends get to know the area and make the most of their time in the UK.
Whilst all of our activities are completely optional, we believe they are a great way to get to know your fellow house-mates, offering opportunities to try something new and get to see more of the UK.
For many of our students, living in the UK will be a new experience and they may wish to explore a little further afield than Hastings. While we have excursions to places we think our students will enjoy, we recognise that students may wish to travel by themselves or with friends. All details (including any extra costs) can be found in the common room.
