Situated on the edge of Burnham Beeches just outside London, the Berkshire Sheepdog Training Group (BSTG), led by Betty and Jeff Temple, has been training sheepdogs for over 12 years.
With access to roughly 60 sheep on several fields in the surrounding area we welcome beginner dogs and handlers. The BSTG works closely with several British trainers and breeders including Anna Lou of Pembrokeshire Sheepdogs to allow you to progress as your skills improve.

What to expect ...
Betty is available most mornings and for some afternoon sessions but you will need to phone ahead to book. Students can expect two or three runs of roughly 15 minutes with each dog spread over a couple of hours. Between runs you will likely be watching others or discussing sheep and sheepdogs over a cup of tea.
Border Collies are renowned for their intelligence and ability to learn quickly. However, not every Border Collie is born to work with sheep. And more often than not it is the handler that needs the training!
Basic obedience goes a long way. Although, even with a good dog, progress to a good working relationship requires consistency and patience. But a wagging tail and a tired dog at the end of the day makes it all worthwhile!
